German construction solutions provider HERING Group said on Monday that it has acquired the business of organic photovoltaics (OPV) company ASCA GmbH, which has been liquidated by France’s Armor Group.

The transaction covers ASCA’s entire site in Kitzingen, northern Bavaria, including production facilities and inventory, as well as its intellectual property (IP), trademark rights and patents. The ASCA team has transferred, too.

Following the acquisition, the business has changed its name to ASCA GmbH & Co. KG.

In a press statement, HERING noted that this purchase allows it to establish itself as a photovoltaics manufacturer. The group intends to expand the Kitzingen site and identify potential synergies in the product and construction sectors, including in projects with railroad companies, municipalities and private customers.

"Thanks to ASCA's technology, we can turn buildings into active energy generators and further minimize their ecological footprint," commented HERING company director Annette Hering.
