Hillary Clinton targets 700% solar capacity jump by 2020 if elected president

Hillary Clinton, a candidate for US president in 2016, will aim to boost the country’s installed solar power capacity eightfold by 2020, according to a campaign statement.

One of her goals is to see over half a billion solar photovoltaic (PV) panels installed in the US by the end of her term. Within 10 years of taking office, Clinton targets enough renewable energy to power every home in America.

The Democratic presidential candidate said she aims to expand renewables use to no less than a third of all power generation, prevent thousands of premature deaths and tens of thousands of asthma attacks every year.

“Hillary will make it a top priority to fight efforts to roll back crucial tools in our national strategy to reduce carbon pollution, increase deployment of renewable energy, and build a clean energy future,” the statement says.

In the next months, Hillary Clinton will present a comprehensive energy and climate agenda.
