Hitachi ABB Power Grids to bring BESS solutions for Atlas Renewable Energy

Latin America-focused power producer Atlas Renewable Energy has signed a collaboration agreement with technology company Hitachi ABB Power Grids Ltd to jointly develop and execute utility-scale battery storage projects.

Battery energy storage systems (BESS) would be attached to Atlas’ renewable energy projects, the company said.

Under the agreement, Hitachi ABB Power Grids will assist in developing the best technical BESS solutions, ensuring that they are successfully integrated into the design of new projects early in the project planning stage.

"Usually, choosing and installing the most appropriate BESS solution is an intricate and highly technical process, but if it is formulated from the start with proper planning and led by experts in integrated solutions, we will be able to ensure a more flexible, reliable and efficient battery implementation for our projects fleet,"Fabian Gonzalez, Director of Innovation and Operational Efficiency at Atlas Renewable Energy, commented.

The technology solutions provider will also be invited to participate in Atlas’ tenders for the engineering package of the projects, Atlas added.
