Hitachi ABB Power Grids wins grid connection job on Qatari solar project

Hitachi ABB Power Grids Ltd will deliver a 220-kV grid connection solution for the 800-MW Al Kharsaah solar photovoltaic (PV) project in Qatar.

The Switzerland-based company got the contract from PowerChina Guizhou Engineering. Its value was not disclosed.

Under the terms of the deal, Hitachi ABB Power Grids will provide detailed engineering and equipment that is in line with local requirements and standards. The solar park is scheduled for partial commissioning in the second quarter of 2021.

Hitachi ABB Power Grids is owned by Japan’s Hitachi Ltd (TYO:6501) with a 80.1% stake and Swiss-Swedish industrial group ABB (VTX:ABBN), which holds the remaining 19.9%.
