Qair, EPCG to explore opportunities for renewables in Montenegro
Sep 12, 2024 15:32 CESTUK renewables developer Hive Energy said that it has 14 solar power projects in the works in Serbia, which could yield 2,211 MW of combined installed capacity.
The news comes less than a year after Hive opened an office in Belgrade in May 2022 to serve as a regional hub for Serbia, Bosnia and Montenegro.
Hive said that it is currently exploring project options in Bosnia and Montenegro, while in Serbia it has land secured for three projects totalling 450 MW. The company expects to secure land for another project of 40 MW in the coming months and a further 290 MW worth of sites by mid-2023.
The company placed a bet on Serbia as the country adopted a new law on energy and renewable energy in April 2021 and started making plans for renewables auctions. An as aspirant to the European Union, the Balkan country is also working to transpose the EU energy law into its own legislation, Hive said.
