UK renewables developer Hive Energy is preparing to build its first solar power capacities in Croatia, featuring three facilities with a combined capacity of roughly 66 MW in the continental region of the Balkan country.

The local unit of the British firm has already secured terrain on private lands and is now in the process of signing connection agreements. Two of the sites are expected to obtain all required permits by the end of 2024, while the third one needs a spatial plan insertion, according to a recent statement.

The solar plants will have a capacity of 6 MW, 50 MW and 9.99 MW, respectively. The smallest one is designed as an agrivoltaic farm. The sites will be built in the Sisak-Moslavina and Bjelovar-Bilogora counties.

Hive Energy established its presence in Croatia in 2022. The company unveiled in the statement plans for additional renewable power projects with more details expected to be announced in the coming months.
