Honduras gets USD 44.7m from South Korea for solar energy project

Oct 18, 2013 - Honduras' government has signed an agreement for a USD 44.7 million (EUR 32.7m) loan from South Korea to finance a project for the supply and installation of solar energy systems in rural areas, the Honduran finance ministry said.

The systems will provide electricity for 18,772 homes, 799 schools and 38 health centres in the Lempira, Ocotepeque, Copan, Intibuca, Santa Barbara and La Paz departments. The project will benefit a total 93,860 residents.

The agreement was signed by Honduras' deputy finance minister for credit and public investment, Evelyn Bautista, and Korea's ambassador, Chong-on Won.
