Hong Kong Energy fires 50 MW Inner Mongolia wind farm

(ADPnews) - Oct 11, 2010 - Chinese alternative energy firm Hong Kong Energy Holdings Ltd (HKG:0987), or HKE, has launched phase-one power transmission from its 49.5 MW wind farm project in Wulanhua, Siziwang Qi, Inner Mongolia.

Full commercial operation of the CNY 504 million (USD 76m/EUR 54m) facility is slated for the fourth quarter of the year.

The company will pocket a feed-in tariff (FiT) of CNY 0.51 per kWh for an estimated annual output of some 115 million kWh, while slashing carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by around 111,700 tonnes per year.

"The group has development rights to an area of approximately 980 square kilometres (378 square miles) in the Siziwang Qi site, which could be developed into an approximately 1,000 MW wind farm in total," said HKE managing director Bruce Yung.

HKE has a wind power generation fleet of 610 MW gross capacity and a further 2 GW in potential wind farm projects. It also operates a waste treatment plant with an annual capacity of 300,000 tonnes in Linyi, Shandong Province.
