HP makes 100% renewable electricity pledge

US technology company HP Inc (NYSE:HPQ) today announced a pledge to reach 100% renewable electricity usage in its global operations and its joining the RE100 initiative.

The group has set an interim goal of sourcing 40% of its global electricity usage from renewables by 2020.

HP's strategy towards the 100% renewable electricity goal include reducing energy consumption, using more on-site renewable power and acquiring or generating off-site renewable power to offset brown power emissions, including the use of renewable energy credits (RECs) and power purchase agreements (PPAs).

HP is the latest member of the RE100 campaign, which is led by The Climate Group in partnership with CDP and groups top businesses committed to 100% renewable electricity. It joins Sky, Bloomberg and Tata Motors, which signed up to the initiative this month, and more than 50 other companies from around the world.
