IEA urges proactive measures to integrate renewables
Sep 18, 2024 11:17 CESTJun 9, 2014 - UK-based HR Wallingford, an operator of a maritime simulation facility in Australia, said yesterday its marine mapping division SeaZone was awarded to lead a web portal for evaluating marine data in the North Sea as part of a European Commission (EC) initiative.
The project called North Sea Check Point is part of the European Marine Observation and Data Network (EMODnet), which is aimed at making marine data resources available to the public through the development of a series of web portals. The provided data can facilitate investments in sustainable coastal and offshore activities such as offshore wind power.
The North Sea Checkpoint will test the effectiveness of the provided information for the North Sea basin and will operate until December 2017. Another checkpoint for the Mediterranean Sea is currently ongoing and check points for other seas are planned to start in 2015, HR Wallingford added.
