The Gavleborg county administrative board in Sweden has submitted a recommendation to the country’s government to approve the proposed 3,900-MW Eystrasalt offshore wind project developed by the local unit of Skyborn Renewables.

The company announced this today, saying that it is now the government's turn to take a position on the project. Niclas Broman, CEO of Skyborn Sweden, said he hopes that the state acts carefully but quickly.

Skyborn Sweden has applied to build the particular wind farm in the Bothnian Sea, about 60 km from the municipality of Hudiksvall.

If built, the Eystrasalt facility will have the capacity to generate 15 TWh of electricity annually. According to the company's website, the project will include as many as 256 turbines and its commercial operation date (COD) is planned for 2032.
