Hummingbird Resources joins up to 30-MW HPP project in Liberia

West African multi-asset gold company Hummingbird Resources said today it will get involved in the planning and development of a 20 MW-30 MW hydropower plant (HPP) project in Liberia.

The project is a joint venture with IFC InfraVentures and African energy group Aldwych International Ltd. Hummingbird has signed a collaboration agreement with them.

If build, the HPP will reduce the costs of Hummingbird's 4.2Moz Dugbe 1 Gold Project and boost the domestic power supply in southeast Liberia and in especially in the town of Greenville, said Dan Betts, CEO of Hummingbird Resources.

Before the scheme leaves the paper, a pre-feasibility study (PFS) is going to be executed by Knight Piesold Consulting. The cost for this PFS is USD 265,000 (EUR 243,992) and will be funded by IFC InfraVentures. The two-stage study is scheduled to be finished by April 2016.
