Singapore lines up 1.4 GW of solar imports from Indonesia, ups goal
Sep 06, 2024 12:53 CESTGerman utility-scale solar developer ib vogt GmbH has been awarded a cluster of solar and energy storage projects under the diesel replacement programme of Indonesian state-owned electric utility Pt PLN (Persero).
The German company has secured the Western Cluster of 48 projects spread across the Java, Sumatra, Kalimantan and Madura regions.
The programme involves the delivery of a total of 60 MWp of solar and 175 MWh of storage capacity, ib vogt said on Friday. The projects will supply electricity to PLN under a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA).
ib vogt is partnering with Nusantara Power, part of PLN, to deliver the projects across the archipelago. Construction is due to start in early 2025.
The programme, which seeks to replace diesel generation with clean energy in smaller isolated grids, was tendered out by PLN earlier in 2023, ib vogt said.
There was a letter of intent signing ceremony under the programme with a total of three energy companies as highlighted in a LinkedIn post by PLN president director Darmawan Prasodjo.
PLN unveiled an initiative to install 200 MW of solar to replace diesel power generators in May.
