Spanish utility Iberdrola SA (BME:IBE) has secured a contract worth EUR 6.07 million (USD 6.70m) to supply electricity and install grid-connected solar panel systems for the city of Almeria, southern Spain.

The Almeria City Council said on Friday it had awarded the contract to the utility’s unit Iberdrola Clientes SAU, securing the supply of power for the city-run institutions. The supply will run for one year, beginning from October 4, 2024.

Three bids were submitted for this tender, but Iberdrola Clientes won as it had the lowest bid, which was just over 20% of the base tender budget, according to the City Council.

In line with the tender terms, the winning bidder also commits to install solar panels at various municipal facilities. Specifically, two sites will be equipped with solar arrays with a nominal capacity of at least 12 kW, and another site will have a system of no less than 10 kW, the Andalusian city added.
