Iberdrola SA (BME:IBE) and the Spanish unit of Heineken NV (AMS:HEIA) have signed a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) which will support the construction of a 50-MW solar photovoltaic (PV) park in the comarca of Andevalo, western Spain.

The Spanish power utility said Monday that its new park will supply electricity to the four factories and offices belonging to Heineken Espana for at least 11 years. The PPA is part of Heineken Espana’s commitment to produce beer using exclusively renewables by 2023 and to become the first brewer in Spain to achieve this feat.

Iberdrola will build the Andevalo PV park in the municipality of Puebla de Guzman in Huelva province. The park's solar panels will cover some 150 hectares (370.7 acres) of land within the area of Iberdrola’s operational 292-MW El Andevalo onshore wind farm.

Commercial operations are expected to start in 2020.
