BlueFloat, China’s Dajin to partner on floating wind supply chain
Sep 19, 2024 15:04 CESTSep 9, 2014 - Spanish power utility Iberdrola (MCE:IBE) will be conducting a research into the recycling of wind turbine blades, Spanish newspaper El Economista said today.
The initiative, dubbed Brio, will be carried out via Iberdrola’s engineering unit with the participation of Gaiker technology centre and the Tecnalia research and innovation foundation. Its aim is to create an innovative and sustainable methodology for the management and recycling of turbine blades when they reach the end of their life cycle.
The budget of the initiative exceeds EUR 1 million (USD 1.3m). The project will also receive funding from the European Union (EU) via the Life+ programme, which supports financially environmental, nature conservation and climate action projects throughout the EU. It was created in 1992 and since then it has co-financed some 4,171 projects with EUR 3.4 billion. For the 2014-2020 period the programmes’ budget is EUR 3.46 billion.
