Spanish utility Iberdrola SA (BME:IBE) saw power production from its renewables worldwide increase by 12.6% year-on-year to 21,145 GWh during the second quarter of 2024, according to the company’s latest provisional energy report.

Looking at the first six months of the year, Iberdrola’s offshore and onshore wind, hydro and mini-hydro, solar plants and fuel cells around the world generated a total of 45,181 GWh, up by 5.3%, the report states.

The output from renewables increased across almost all of Iberdrola’s markets during both reporting periods compared to the year-ago values: Spain (Q2: +24.1%; H1: +21.4%), the UK (Q2: +15.7%; H1: +8.3%); the US (Q2: +13.6%; H1: +2.2%), Mexico (Q2: +14.6%; H1: +10.0%), and the Rest of World markets (Q2: +41.6%; H1: 33.5%).

Brazil was the only market where the renewable power production declined, dropping by 17.3% year-on-year in the second quarter and by 28.9% during the first half of the year, marked by a decrease in the installed hydro power capacity.

A selection of figures from Iberdrola’s provisional energy report can be found in the table below:
