Iberdrola's global renewables output up by 6.1% in 9-mo 2023

Spanish utility Iberdrola SA (BME:IBE) generated 58,742 GWh of electricity from its renewables worldwide during the first nine months of 2023, marking a 6.1% year-on-year increase as the company’s global installed capacity rose.

At the end of September 2023, the group had 41,303 MW of installed capacity from sources such as onshore and offshore wind, solar photovoltaic, hydro and mini-hydro, batteries and fuel cells. In the year-ago period, the installed capacity from these renewables combined was 39,165 MW.

During the January-September period, Iberdrola witnessed a 2.4% decline in the global onshore wind power output, with production from these wind farms falling by double digits in markets such as Spain (-11.4%), the UK (-20.4%) and Mexico (-26.7%). Onshore wind power production rose in the US (+0.3%), Brazil (+26.2%) and markets known as the Rest of the World (+12.7%).

Solar power production rose in Spain (+40.8%), the US (+222.1%) and Mexico (+3.8%). The solar output dropped by 41.7% in the UK, with no data available for Brazil and the Rest of the World markets.
