European Energy, Centrica ink balancing deals for Lithuanian renewables
Sep 13, 2024 14:50 CESTLithuanian energy company Ignitis Grupe AB (VSE:IGN1L) announced today that its 22-MW solar project adjacent to an existing wind farm in the Lithuanian district of Taurage has reached its commercial operation date.
The facility will now generate enough clean electricity to cover the needs of about 13,000 households annually. Combined with the 25 MW of onsite wind capacity, the hybrid complex will be capable of powering around 40,000 local homes.
The Taurage solar farm, which entered the construction phase in August, required an investment of around EUR 14 million (USD 15.1m), about 12.5% less than the initial estimates.
With the latest project commissioned, Ignitis’ overall installed renewables capacity has now reached 1.4 GW, advancing its goal towards 4 GW to 5 GW by 2030.
