Niam, Evecon to partner on 84 MWp solar-storage projects in Latvia
Sep 13, 2024 11:09 CESTA unit of Estonian real estate and construction company AS Merko Ehitus has been hired to build a 93.5-MWp solar photovoltaic (PV) park in Latvia on behalf of Lithuania’s Ignitis Renewables.
The deal was placed by SIA SP Venta, which became part of utility Ignitis Group (VSE:IGN1L) about a year ago, and the job will be performed by Merko’s PS MB.MEE subsidiary. According to a press statement by the contractor, the order is worth about EUR 20 million (USD 21.4m), plus value added tax.
The award covers a project in the Varme parish of western Latvia’s Kuldiga district. The scope of work includes the installation of the PV panels 18 medium-voltage power stations, 232 combiner boxes, irradiance sensors and weather stations. SIA SP Venta will also build access roads and drainage systems, install medium voltage cables and handle the testing and commissioning of the solar power plant.
Construction works are expected to be completed in August 2025.
