Elawan bags Google PPA for 37-MW solar project in Texas
Sep 19, 2024 13:49 CESTJul 11, 2012 - Swedish furniture group Ikea today officially put in operation a 504-kW photovoltaic (PV) system on its store in Woodbridge in the state of Virginia.
The PV system includes 2,100 panels on 63,000 sq ft (5,853 sq m) area and will generate 636,199 kWh of power, enough to supply 55 households and save 439 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions a year, Ikea calculates.
Gehrlicher Solar America Corp, a unit of German PV project developer Gehrlicher Solar, developed, designed and installed the PV system for Ikea.
The facility is the company's 21st completed solar power project on its US stores. As many as 18 solar projects are under development. Ikea intends to have a total of 38 MW of PV arrays on its stores in the US. It will own and operate all of them.
