Elawan bags Google PPA for 37-MW solar project in Texas
Sep 19, 2024 13:49 CESTMar 28, 2012 - Swedish furniture group Ikea today switched on a 497.3-kW photovoltaic (PV) power system at its store in Portland in the state of Oregon.
US solar electric installer REC Solar developed, designed and installed the facility, which includes 2,072 solar panels on 62,500-sq-ft (5,800 sq m) area. The PV system will generate some 568,900 kWh of electricity, enough to save 432 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions and supply 48 households a year, Ikea calculates.
The system is the furniture group's 16th finished PV installation on its stores in the USA. The company is developing solar projects on 21 more locations that will bring its total solar power capacity in the US to 30.8 MW. Ikea owns and operates all the PV systems on its stores.
