Elawan bags Google PPA for 37-MW solar project in Texas
Sep 19, 2024 13:49 CESTJun 27, 2012 - Swedish furniture retailer Ikea said Wednesday it had powered up a 967-kW solar photovoltaic (PV) system at its store in Orlando, Florida.
The system includes 4,115 panels and is expected to generate 1,421,500 kWh of electricity per year, offsetting 1,080 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions. It was developed and installed by REC Solar Inc.
The Orlando array brings the number of completed solar installations at Ikea stores in the US to 18. Solar projects are underway at a further 21 sites and once all are completed, the company is expected to have 38 MW of solar generation capacity in the country.
Ikea currently has 38 stores in the US, out of a total of over 330 across 40 countries.
