NTPC’s green energy arm eyes USD 1.2bn from Indian IPO
Sep 19, 2024 11:52 CESTThe Indian government has approved two transmission schemes aimed at evacuating 9 GW of renewable power from the western state of Rajasthan and the southern state of Karnataka.
The new Inter State Transmission System (ISTS) schemes are together worth INR 135.95 billion (USD 1.63bn/EUR 1.52bn) and will be implemented through tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB), the Ministry of Power said over the weekend.
The power evacuation scheme of Rajasthan Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) will transport 4.5 GW of renewable power from Rajasthan, more specifically 1 GW from the Fatehgarh complex, 2.5 GW from the Barmer complex and 1 GW from the Nagaur complex, to Mainpuri Region, Fatehpur and Orai of Uttar Pradesh. The scheme is set to be completed within two years, with an estimated cost of some INR 122.41 billion.
The System strengthening scheme of Karnataka, in turn, will evacuate 4.5 GW from the Koppal and Gadag areas. It is due to be completed by June 2027 at a cost of about INR 13.54 billion.
The schemes are part of India’s 500 GW renewable energy capacity target by 2030, with 200 GW currently connected, the ministry says.
