Sep 19, 2024 13:28 CESTIndia imposed countervailing duties on the cost, insurance and freight (CIF) value of imports of textured tempered coated and uncoated glass from Malaysia.
The Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR) announced last week that the levy will be imposed for five years on textured toughened/tempered glass with a minimum of 90.5% transmission, having a thickness of up to 4.2 mm and at least one dimension exceeding 1,500 mm, whether coated or not. The product is used in solar photovoltaic (PV) and solar thermal applications and is also known as solar glass.
The government agency explained that the product in question is already subject to an anti-dumping duty, the countervailing tariff will be equal to the difference between the quantum of proposed duties in the table below and the anti-dumping duty, if any.
Country of origin | Country of export | Producer | Duty amount as of CIF value (%) |
Malaysia | Malaysia | Xinyi Solar Malaysia Sdn Bhd | 9.71 |
Malaysia | Malaysia | Other than Xinyi Solar Malaysia Sdn Bhd | 10.14 |
Malaysia | Other than Malaysia | Any other | 10.14 |
Other than Malaysia | Malaysia | Any other | 10.14 |
If the amount of the countervailing duty is less than the anti-dumping tariff, no levy will be collected.
