PT Gunung Raja Paksi Tbk (GRP), part of Indonesian steel company Gunung Steel Group, has inaugurated the first phase of a solar installation at its production site in Cikarang.

The phase 1 array in the Forming Service Center (FSC) area has a capacity of 900 kWp. The company plans to install solar panels with a total target capacity of 33 MWp on the roofs of the GRP factory, with the project scheduled to be completed in 2025.

The inauguration event was attended by a Total Energies team, who is responsible for the design and selection of an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) partner for the solar system.

The TotalEnergies ENEOS joint venture in October 2022 announced the signing of power contracts with GRP for the world’s largest rooftop solar system.

GRP said the solar panels are part of its commitment to reduce carbon dioxide emissions and of its environment, social and governance (ESG) programme launched last year.

All of the solar energy generated will be used to power production activities.
