British renewable energy company Innova has obtained planning permission for a solar farm project in Gloucestershire county in South West England which, once switched on, will be capable of powering 2,700 homes.

The go-ahead for the Welsh Way Solar Farm project near Fairford was granted by the Cotswold District Council, Innova said in a press statement on Tuesday.

Welsh Way Solar Farm, which will be added to Innova’s distribution network operator (DNO) pipeline, will span 19.8 hectares and has a targeted capacity of 13 MWp, according to the company’s website.

The site is expected to be completed in 2026.
