World set to install 593 GW of new solar in 2024 - Ember
Sep 19, 2024 13:28 CESTPower procurement platform InRange has unveiled a partnership with UK retailer The Range to turn warehouse rooftops into 40 MW of distributed renewable energy.
The companies are collaborating beyond on-site generation for self-consumption, with the solar installations up-sized to generate maximum power and supply the surplus within the InRange network -- to nearby large energy buyers, as well as other The Range sites.
According to InRange, this strategy could reduce electricity bills across the portfolio by at least 25%. The initiative at the same time supports The Range’s efforts to become a net zero business.
“It’s refreshing to see one of the UK’s largest retailers have the ambition to leverage their buildings as a retail energy network. It’s our mission to accelerate the roll out of on-site generation to their portfolio and achieve their ambitions,” commented InRange chief executive John Mushriqui.
The Range says that by automating the entire energy procurement workflow, InRange energised the first site in only eight months.
