Bulgaria's NEK opens tender for new turbines at pumped storage plant
Sep 18, 2024 13:50 CESTSOFIA (Bulgaria), June 6 (SeeNews) – The installed capacity of solar plants in Bulgaria jumped 85% to 1,013 megawatts (MW) in 2012, a senior official of the country’s Electricity System Operator (ESO) said.
Total installed capacity of wind energy rose 24% to 677 MW, ESO board member Mitiu Christozov told on Wednesday a nuclear energy forum organised by local non-governmental organisation Bulatom in the Black Sea resort of Riviera.
Renewable energy sources had a 27.75% share of overall installed capacity, which stood at 13,759 MW at end-2012, he added.
A total of 47 million megawatthours (MWh) of electricity were generated last year. Wind farms generated 1.2 million MWh, against 800,700 MWh generated by solar plants.
