INTEC, China's CHINT to develop 154 MWp solar park in Romania

INTEC Energy Solutions and Chinese company CHINT Solar said on Tuesday they are partnering to develop a 154 MWp solar power plant, the largest in Romania, after signing an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract with Israeli renewable energy projects developer Econergy.

The Ratesti solar park in Arges county, in southern Romania, sprawls across 165 hectares and is expected to produce 124 GWh of solar energy annually, which will reduce carbon emission by some 160,000 tonnes each year, the companies said in a joint press release.

According to a report in Romania Journal, the investment in the Ratesti solar park will total 100 million euro ($105.5 million).

INTEC and CHINT will provide all the necessary services and works related to the design, engineering, procurement, construction, and high voltage grid connection of the solar park.

In November, Econergy and another Israeli company, Nofar Energy, each acquired a 50% stake in the Ratesti project from Czech company Portland Trust.

Later that month, Econergy announced the acquisition of a 87 MWp solar power development project in Parau, central Romania for an undisclosed amount.

The Ratesti and Parau projects are part of Econergy’s 1.5 GW solar pipeline it is developing in Romania.

INTEC is a developer of solar power plant solutions. The company specialises in EPC and operations and maintenance services, employing a workforce of approximately 400. INTEC operates internationally and has delivered over 130 projects, with a total capacity of 1.7 GWp.

CHINT Solar is an international provider of smart energy solutions. Founded in 1984, it manufactures and sells photovoltaic modules, along with developing investment and construction projects for power stations, energy storage, electricity distribution network, or multi-energy complementation. According to the press release, the company has installed a total photovoltaic capacity of over 8GW worldwide.

Econergy is an international developer and operator of renewable energy projects. he company operates Spain, the UK, Poland, Romania and Italy, with a total of 194 solar and wind projects in development.
