German firm Interregional Energy Company GmbH intends to build 4.5-MW of solar plants and a biogas power and heating facility in eastern Belarus, news agency BelTA said Thursday, quoting officials.

Representatives at the Mogilev Oblast Executive Committee told BelTA the company’s plan is to invest BYR 85 billion (USD 4.3m/EUR 3.9m) in the project in Mogilev region. According to the report, it has sealed two investment contracts with Belarus.

Interregional Energy will construct three photovoltaic (PV) facilities of 1.5 MW each and a biogas plant in the village of Nizki, Kostyukovichi district. The first solar installation is expected to become operational in July, while the biogas facility is still in the design phase and is seen to be up and running by 2017.

Interregional Energy, which supplies equipment for cogeneration plants, has already implemented similar projects at other locations, BelTA says.
