Iran’s Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Organization, also called SATBA, last week opened a 150-MW solar cell and module production facility near the city of Khomein, Khomeyn County in Markazi Province.

A press statement released by SATBA says that in future phases, to be realised by end-2023, the total capacity of the new facility will be expanded to 1,500 MW.

Earlier this year, SATBA launched a call for the development and construction of 10,000 MW of renewable power plants with the help of the private sector, including for solar parks of at least 10 MW.

In December, the chairman of the organisation, Mahmoud Kamani, announced that requests for roughly 80,000 MW have been registered as part of the call.
