Iberdrola inaugurates 496-MW Saint-Brieuc wind farm offshore France
Sep 19, 2024 16:25 CESTIran’s total installed renewable power generation capacity totalled 650 MW at the end of September and is set to expand to 1,150 MW by next summer, according to the country’s Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Organization (SATBA).
Around 39% of the cumulative capacity, or 253 MW, comes from solar photovoltaic (PV) plant,s including about 2,000 of rooftop installations. This was announced at the third solar power plant conference and exhibition Iran REC 2018 held earlier this month.
According to energy minister Reza Ardakanian, who attended the conference, the country is expected to deploy an additional 500 MW of renewable power capacity by the start of summer 2019, lifting the total to 1,150 MW. By the end of March, that capacity is expected to stand at 1 GW.
The Iranian government’s plan is to install 5 GW of new renewable energy capacity by the end of the sixth development plan of the Islamic Republic in 2022.
