Iraq nears 1,000 MW solar deal with ACWA Power Solar panels by iamme ubeyou.

Iraq is close to signing a deal with Saudi Arabia’s International Company for Water and Power Projects (TADAWUL:2082), better known as ACWA Power, for the generation of 1,000 MW of solar power in the Najaf Governorate, the Iraqi Ministry of Oil has announced.

More details about the project were not disclosed.

The announcement comes after the Iraqi government signed earlier this month a pact with UAE-based renewable energy company Masdar for the start of the first phase of a 2-GW solar project in the Mideast country.
