Iberdrola inaugurates 496-MW Saint-Brieuc wind farm offshore France
Sep 19, 2024 16:25 CESTA group of companies will build three solar parks with a combined capacity of 300 MW in Iraq's autonomous region of Kurdistan after winning a tender recently, the Arab country's official newspaper Al Sabaah reported on Wednesday.
Kurdistan's Ministry of Electricity has selected three local companies that will build the solar plants each of 100 MW in the governorates of Duhok, Erbil and Sulaymaniyah, a representative of the ministry told the paper.
The projects will be implemented within six months starting in early 2022 and the electricity from the parks will be fed into the public grid.
The three projects are part of Kurdistan's long-term plan to generate 900 MW of clean energy by 2030.
Apart from the large-scale projects, there are private households and factories in the region that have already installed photovoltaic systems on rooftops and the excess electricity from these systems can be fed into the grid, the ministry official said. The electricity that is provided to the grid will be calculated through digital meters and its value will be subtracted from the electricity bills of the owners of the solar systems.
