The government of British Crown dependency the Isle of Man is probing interest for a tender for up to 20 MW of onshore renewable energy and storage capacity to be tied to its power grid.

An Expression of interest (EoI) process for a potential competitive process was published on Tuesday. The government has recommended solar photovoltaic (PV) and wind power projects as the most viable development options. It noted, however, that consideration will be given to “any deliverable zero-emission solution.”

Interested parties have time until September 18 to participate.

The request for EoIs has an exploratory goal and may or may not lead to a competitive tender round, the federal government said.

The Isle of Man aims to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050. To support the goal, the government has made an action plan that includes a commitment to producing 75% of the island's electricity from renewable energy sources by 2035.
