Iberdrola inaugurates 496-MW Saint-Brieuc wind farm offshore France
Sep 19, 2024 16:25 CESTThe government of Israel has launched a tender for the construction of an up to 100-MW solar park in the country’s Negev desert, official documents show.
The project will be developed under the public private partnership (PPP) model under a 25-year contract with the tender winner. The successful candidate will take care of financing, designing, building and operating the photovoltaic (PV) park during the contracted period, the Ministry of Energy said on Thursday.
The proposed solar farm will be installed in proximity to the Ashlim community settlement in southern Israel. It should begin commercial operations in the first quarter of 2027.
According to the statement, the area of Ashlim is home to two solar PV and two concentrated solar power (CSP) parks with a combined capacity of over 300 MW. All of them are feeding their output into the local grid.
Israel is pursuing a goal of generating 30% of its total power from renewable energy sources by 2030.
