Israel's Nofar begins construction of 26 MW of solar in Serbia Solar panels by iamme ubeyou.

Israeli renewables company Nofar Energy Ltd (TLV:NOFR) has broken ground on a 26-MW solar farm complex in northern Serbia, media in the country reported this week.

Investment in the project will reach EUR 25 million (USD 27.1m). Nofar will use the funds to build the Ada complex, consisting of two solar farms, in the namesake municipality in Serbia’s northern province of Vojvodina.

Each of the Ada plants will occupy a surface of 15 hectares (37.1 acres). Balkan Green Energy News reported that the site spans 116 hectares to account for a planned expansion of the complex.

Nofar has selected Turkish contractor Girisim Elektric to build the facilities. The plan is to connect Ada 1 and Ada 2 to the grid by the end of 2024.

Serbia just recently surpassed the symbolic milestone of 100 MW of installed solar, Rade Mrdak, advisor in the Serbian mining and energy ministry, said in a video posted by the Vojvodina province broadcaster RTV. Mrdak expects at least five more solar plants with a combined capacity of 30 MW to be connected to the grid, alongside the Ada complex, by the end of the year, he said.
