Sep 19, 2024 14:32 CESTJun 24, 2014 - Telecom Italia SpA (BIT:TIT) said on Monday that utility A2A SpA (BIT:A2A) will be supplying the group with renewable energy for a period of two years.
The contract will help Telecom Italia to lower its carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by more than 70%, it calculates. The purchased electricity will be enough to meet the energy requirements of all of the company’s units, it said.
Further details on the deal were not revealed.
The Italian telecoms group also noted it is the country’s second biggest power consumer.
A2A produces clean energy through its hydroelectric, biomass and biogas plants as well as from solar photovoltaic (PV) systems.
