Japanese electric utility Electric Power Development Co Ltd (TYO:9513), known as J-Power, announced today that its 41.5-MW Kaminokuni No. 2 wind farm on Hokkaido island has commenced commercial operation.

The wind park, which is owned by wholly-owned subsidiary J-Wind Kaminokunio Ltd, is located in the city of Kaminokuni and consists of ten Siemens Gamesa wind turbines, each of 4.3 MW. The company notes it will control the wind park's output to not exceed 41.5 MW.

With the latest commissioning, J-Power now has nine operational wind parks in Hokkaido for a combined local capacity of some 210.7 MW.

Overall, the company has a total wind power output of around 755.7 MW with 28 wind parks in Japan, including facilities in operation and under construction as well as plants that are being updated, it noted.
