A consortium of Belgian marine contractor Jan De Nul and Hellenic Cables, part of Belgium’s Cenergy Holdings SA (EBR:CENER), has been awarded export cable contracts for the Baltyk II and Baltyk III offshore wind farms in Poland, Jan De Nul said on Tuesday.

The projects, of 720 MW each, are being develop in the Polish Baltic Sea by a joint venture of Polenergia SA (WSE:PEP) and Norway's Equinor ASA (NYSE:EQNR).

Jan De Nul Group and Hellenic Cables will design, produce, transport and install four HVAC export cables, with a combined length of 256 km (159 miles), that will connect the wind farms to the mainland. The connection to the shore will be executed in 2026.

Hellenic Cables will design and manufacture the cables at its plant in Corinth, Greece, while Jan De Nul will transport, install and bury them.

The contract expands the two companies' collaboration on offshore cable works following their recently announced partnerships on the RWE Thor project in Denmark and TenneT DolWin Kappa in Germany.
