J-Power signs solar VPPA for Tokyo Metro in Japan
Sep 18, 2024 15:26 CESTIndustrial and electronic equipment maker Japan Benex Corporation has recently put into operation a 3.8-MW direct current (DC) rooftop solar array in Miyagi prefecture, northeast Japan.
The system was built atop the Prologis Park Iwanuma logistics facility, owned by Japan’s Nippon Prologis REIT Inc (TYO:3283), the local subsidiary of California-based real estate investment trust Prologis Inc (NYSE:PLD).

Comprised of 7,616 solar modules, the solar system is Japan Benex’s 17th roof-rented photovoltaic (PV) array. It has an estimated annual power output of roughly 3.8 million kWh, enough to power some 1,260 local homes.
The firm noted that this project is now its largest rooftop solar array. Overall, Japan Benex operates 34 power plants with a combined capacity of 37.9 MW, with 28.9 MW being roof-rented PV arrays.
