Equinor, Iberdrola reportedly back out of renewables in several markets
Aug 30, 2024 14:47 CESTJapanese power producer Erex Co Ltd (TYO:9517) announced last week it is one of five companies taking part in an integrated aquaculture and solar power generation project of 55 MW in Taiwan.
Erex is investing in WG Manies Solar Energy Co Ltd alongside a local unit of Kyudenko Corporation (TYO:1959) as well as JA Mitsui Leasing Ltd, Chuo-Nittochi Co Ltd and Manies Investment Co Ltd.
The project in question is being jointly developed with Taiyen Green Energy Co Ltd (TGE), a subsidiary of salt producer Taiyen Biotech Co Ltd (TPE:1737). Manies Investment is acting as the project manager together with a local company, and TGE is in charge of the development tasks such as obtaining permits and approvals.
Planned to become operational in 2024, WG Maines’ output will be sold to Taiwan Power Company for a 20-year period, subject to approval under the local feed-in tariffs (FiT) regime.
The Taiwanese government plans to have 30 GW of solar power by 2030, with some 4 GW produced through solar installations on aquaculture ponds by 2025, Erex noted.
