Japanese sweets and snacks company Bourbon Corporation (TYO:2208) has secured the supply of power for five of its factories in Niigata Prefecture from four new solar parks jointly developed by Shizen Energy and its partner Bison Energy.

The latter announced this earlier in the week, saying that the contracted electricity will come from new plants with a total direct current (DC) capacity of 6.7 MW.

A corporate power purchase agreement (PPA) has been signed by Shizen Energy and electricity retailer Summit Energy Corporation on one side and Bourbon on the other. The volumes of electricity required by Bourbon's factories but not covered by the new PPA will be supplied by the company's existing retail electricity supplier.

One of the four photovoltaic (PV) parks, called Kashiwazaki Matsunami, is already in operation and is supplying its output to Bourbon. The other three are scheduled to commence operations in October 2024 and October 2025.
