Japan's Fujita Corp to build 1.8-MW biomass plant in Myanmar

November 7 (renewables Now) - Japanese construction firm Fujita Corporation announced last week that it will develop a 1.8-MW biomass project in Myanmar.

Local firm Myanmar Agribusiness Public Corporation Limited, or MAPCO, is its partner in the project. They will work on the scheme through a newly-created joint venture called Myaung Mya FM Biomass Power Co Ltd. Fujita has an 80% stake in that JV.

Located in the Ayeyarwaddy Region, the Rice Husk Power Generation PJ, as it is named, will use rice husk produced from local mills, which have been facing problems when it comes to their stable operation and quality assurance due to power shortages.

The biomass park will have an estimated annual output of approximately 12.79 million kWh. Fujita Corp will be in charge of the design, engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) works of the plant, the company noted.
