Japanese renewables developer Shizen Energy Inc announced on Wednesday it has taken full control of its two joint venture (JV) companies with Germany's JUWI GmbH.

Tokyo-based renewables contractors juwi Shizen Energy Inc (JSE) and juwi Shizen Energy Operation Inc (JSEO) were established in 2013 with a focus on the development and operation of solar and other renewable energy power plants in Japan.

As of June 2023, JSE boasts a track record of 758.4 MW, while JSEO has achieved 933.0 MW in cumulative operation and maintenance (O&M) contracts.

No further details about the deal were given.

Shizen noted that with this move, it can "accelerate the expansion of key project pipelines, seize corporate power purchase agreement (PPA) growth opportunities, and bolster its presence in the burgeoning battery storage business".
