Utility-scale solar contractor J&B Solar has put on stream a 132-MW AC/175-MW DC photovoltaic (PV) farm in Michigan, ahead of schedule and on budget, it said on Wednesday.

The Fish Creek complex in Montcalm County covers 594 acres (240 hectares) of land and is expected to generate enough electricity to cover the annual electricity consumption of about 30,000 local homes.

J&B Solar was hired to manage the project’s mechanical construction by Michihan-based Roncelli Inc and broke ground in May. The company’s scope of work covered the installation of 46,000 steel piles using GPS-guided equipment, the construction of 1.2 million linear feet of racking and the installation of 320,000 PV panels.

The site uses ATI racking systems and 550-W solar panels by Japan’s VSUN.

J&B Solar has so far installed more than 3 GW of PV capacity across North America. The company noted it has achieved 100% compliance with the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) and a 95% union labor compliance for the Fish Creek project.
