Chinese solar manufacturer JinkoSolar Holding Co Ltd (NYSE:JKS) said today it has made its first shipment to Mongolia, supplying 12.7 MW of modules for the country's first utility-scale solar power plant.

The solar farm is located in Ulan Bator and is expected to be connected to the grid next month.

The modules were delivered to Hitachi Systems Ltd, a subsidiary of Hitachi Ltd (TYO:6501), while the solar system is owned by Farmdo Corp. The project is supported by the Japanese Ministry of the Environment and 40% of the construction costs will be financed via a government subsidy, according to the announcement.

JinkoSolar delivered PERC modules and custom built 36-cell and 48-cell dual glass modules for the development. It said it is bidding for two other projects handled by Hitachi Systems that are expected to start construction next year.
