India’s JSW Neo Energy Ltd has secured a letter of award (LoA) to set up a 200-MW wind and solar hybrid power project in the state of Maharashtra, its parent company announced on Tuesday.

Power group JSW Energy Ltd (BOM:533148) said that its wholly-owned subsidiary was received the LoA from Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) in a tariff-based competitive bid.

The new capacity award has lifted JSW Energy's total locked-in generation capacity to 17.2 GW. This includes 7.5 GW in operation, 2.3 GW of wind, thermal and hydro power under construction and a renewable energy pipeline of 7.3 GW. The group also has 4.2 GWh of locked-in energy storage capacity across battery and pumped-storage hydro technologies.

JSW Energy expects to raise its operational generation to 10 GW by the 2025 fiscal year. Its other targets include reaching 20 GW of generation capacity and 40 GWh of energy storage before 2030 and achieving carbon neutrality by 2050.
