Juwi installs 350 MW wind capacity in Germany in 2013

Dec 31, 2013 - German green projects developer Juwi AG said on Sunday it installed 120 wind turbines with a total capacity of about 350 MW in Germany in 2013.

Thus, the company's share in newly-installed capacity grew to over 10% in 2013.

The wind turbines installed by Juwi since its establishment in 1996 can cover the annual electricity demand of around one million three-member households, the company said. Juwi has also showed that wind power can be profitable in southern Germany, it added. Apart from its core markets in Rhineland-Palatinate, Saarland and Baden-Wuerttemberg, Juwi carried out in 2013 several projects from Bavaria to North Rhine-Westphalia.

Over the year, Juwi also launched an energy park project in Goellheim, in Rhineland-Palatinate, which will consist of wind turbines, a solar plant as well as a biogas facility. The park will start operations from the forthcoming spring.

Together with the Trier utility, Juwi founded a project development company, which will develop a pumped storage hydro power station on the Moselle river. The project is estimated to be worth around EUR 450 million (USD 618.9m).

Juwi's activities abroad were mainly focused on solar energy in 2013 and the company opened a new office in Dubai. In Thailand, Juwi built five solar parks with a total capacity of 48 MW. Moreover, together with its joint venture partner Shizen Energy the German firm started operations in Japan.
